An Introduction to Cocktail Glasses

Cocktail glasses are also known as martini glasses, which refer to stemmed glasses with a cone-shaped bowl placing upon a stem above a flat base. It is usually used to serve cocktail. Cocktail belongs to a kind of mixed drinks which includes alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. One obvious characteristic in making cocktail is that it is served chilled through ice treatment or simply by adding ice. What is more, this sort of drink contains an aromatic element. In this way, the drinker should avoid direct touch with the glasses because the temperature from hands will affect the taste of the drink. As a result, there are goblet like champagne flute and champagne tulip, and old fashion glasses in the family of cocktail glasses. The stem allows the drinker to hold the glass without bringing any influence.

In a word, cocktail glasses have a long stem from the bottom, while the top resembles a wide bowl, shaping like a triangle or trapezoid, which hold the surface of the drink right under the drinker’s nose, so that people can experience rich and strong aroma.
